Strengthening our Community through Education, Economic Development and Service
Vote May 28, 2013!
I am the proud mother of three daughters; Monique, Naomi and Alexus. As a parent, I have a vested interest in the growth and development of our youth understand the importance of quality education. I am also a member of White Hall AME Church where I am a Certified Education Director, Stewardess, Certified Church School Educator, Second Vice President and Youth Advisor for the Colleton Branch of the NAACP and Certified Sunday School Superintendant. As your city council woman, I will work with other elected officials, community leaders and citizens for the advancement of our schools and support quality public education.
Additionally, I understand the connection between job training and economic development. I went to college on a four year scholarship and had support from the community and my family. I earned a Bachelor’s of Arts in Sociology with a minor in Criminal Justice and earned a Master’s of Arts in Human Services. Additionally, I completed specialized business classes and am a Graduate of Leadership Colleton which enabled me to own my own restaurant, Carmine’s Trattoria. The skills and training I received enabled me to create a job for myself and my employees. Serving as an Economic Development Committee Member and owning a small business has enabled me to understand the resources and skills required to grow a business. As your city council woman, I will be a strong advocate for and support economic development, empowering new businesses to locate to the City of Walterboro and support the growth of current businesses.
As a resident of Walterboro, I have a vested interest in our community’s success, for I realize that we as a City will succeed when we put politics aside and work for the greater interest of the community. As a parent, business owner, active member of the church and community leader, I will work for YOU and be your representative and work for the advancement of our community.
